One of our bestselling products, The New Kintsugi Repair Kit, allows you to repair a crack or break in a ceramic piece using a gold fixative. It's based on the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi, where artisans focused on highlighting ceramic breakages and reinvigorating the piece, rather than simply trying to hide the imperfection.
The biggest benefit of the kit is that it reduces waste by allowing you to revive a ceramic piece that you would have ordinarily thrown out. Repairing rather than recycling is a motto of Humade, the Dutch company who produces the kits. It also allows you to rescue a beloved ceramic keepsake that is worse for wear - adding another layer of history to the item.
As there are so many ways in which the kit can help revive old ceramics, we were interested to find out how our customers were using it - what they were fixing and whether they thought it improved the piece. One customer, Donna D from California has kindly sent us some photos of her three repaired items: a gnome, a jug, and a creamer.
The top image is a quirky blue glazed ceramic gnome - his hat now has a touch of gold. Below is a stoneware jug with a spout that has been completely rebuilt with the glue and the last image is a little creamer which now has a functioning (and glittering) handle!
We owe a big thanks to Donna for sharing her repaired items. If you've purchased a kit and would like to share your repairs, please email your images and the story behind the items to: info [at] moraapproved [dot] com. You'll also receive a 20% off code for your next purchase!
