Photo of Yamdrok Yumtso Lake taken by Lisa Greenblott.
I know I know. We were focusing on beautiful European destinations...but if you've been reading this blog for a little while then you know I've been moaning endlessly about the cold. And when I came across this stunning photo of Yamdrok Yumtso Lake in Tibet, I just had to post it up.
Yamdrok Lake is one of four holy lakes in Tibet that is thought to be divinatory. It's revered as a talisman and is said to be part of the life-spirit of the Tibetan nation - it is said that if its waters dry, Tibet will no longer be habitable. It's also home to the famous Samding Monastery, which is on a peninsula jutting into the lake.
So awe-inspiring on this cold Monday afternoon!
Hope all your Christmas plans are going well! Don't forget you've got one more day to put in your orders for Christmas shipping!
